Bramhall Rangers 11 - The Slim Jims 7

A depleted Slim Jims side came face to face with a Rangers side with a point to prove. And did they prove it?
A great victory against the side who before the game were top of division 6. Ok as I said Slim Jims were lacking anything resembling what I imagine their normal side is, but as someone once said - you can only beat what's in front of you!
Goals from Mini (2), Piggy (3) and Hedderz (the rest) gave the Rangers the victory, but that would only tell half the tale. Great defending all through the team, some goalkeeping from Belch that the great Jim Leighton would be proud of, and a much improved performance from Piggy - that's more like what we want to see every week!!
Cynics might say that maybe the absence of the ginger prince helped the Rangers along, well we will never know.

Bramhall Rangers vs The Slim Jims - Match Preview

The Rangers are back to action this Thursday and will be looking to put last weeks disappointment behind them. Two poor performances in the last two games have seen the Rangers concede 34 goals and only score 7 themselves, and the promising start they had has slipped away.

It doesn’t get any easier for the Rangers this week either, with their opponents The Slim Jims being one of the early season pace-setters in division 6. Currently top of the league (albeit on goal difference) having won 4 and lost 1, they will prove to be another tough challenge.

Slim Jims record this season so far is as follows :

20/01/2005 23 - 7 CHEADLE UTD THURSDAY
27/01/2005 7 - 2 THE GRISWALDS
03/02/2005 4 - 3 DAW BANKERS
10/02/2005 9 - 10 8-CARROTGOLD
17/02/2005 10 - 5 NORTHERN CANARIES

The Rangers currently sit in 6th, with only one win and one draw to their name. And looking at the league in more detail, they have the joint 2nd worst goals scored and the 3rd worst goals conceded in the league. It’s not hard to see where the problems lie – both ends of the pitch!

Early team news shows the Rangers should be a full strength on Thursday. Mini returned unscathed from a week skiing in Austria (he picked up some silverware for winning a race down the ski-slope - well done Mini!) and will be looking to continue his scoring run which has propelled him to the top of the Rangers scoring charts. Also returning should be Belch, who missed out with a virus last week. He should take his place back in net, The Fist moving back outfield. The return of these two important players for the Rangers will see Big Rick lose his place, however both Mini and Belch were sorely missed last week.

Prediction : I hate to say it, but unfortunately I can only see another defeat this week for the Rangers, and they will have to up their performance quite dramatically if they aren’t to be embarrassed again.

Latest update : With it being an early kick off (7pm), Mark T is unable to make it back from deepest darkest Wales in time. So Big Rick has been asked to fill the void, no word yet on whether or not he is available.
Shiz has reported being a little under the weather with a cold affecting him. He will give himself a late fitness test before the game to decide whether or not he will be playing.
Otherwise it should be business as usual for the Rangers - Belch, Mini, Pie, Piggy, Hedderz and Rascle all available.

The Shocka in Stocka

Well, to save peoples time, the score was a spectacular 19-4 LOSS. The match started strongly with Rangers taking the lead. Carrots drew level, but then Rangers went ahead again. During this period Piggy ended up being the last man back with the ball, and nearly commited suicide twice, but somehow we hung on. After this it went down hill ......... rapidly!

Rangers were forced into a hit and hope approach with most of our shots happening in our own half. The reason? Nothing new really, same old reasons.

Learning points - Oh why bother......

Worrying times

No Mini, ass bleeding from certain team mates, random illnesses from others, cockney speaking brothers that were brought up in the North, 10PM Kick off, Gump in the North run, Hobo's winning an all you can eat at Pizza Hut.... the signs don't look promising for the latest Bramhall Rangers match.

But did they get down hearted? No, just when hope was vanishing, P Biggy decided he would concentrate on concentrating! Reassuring to know that for the past three years he's been concentrating on something else. Just as the Rangers heard news that they'd lost their star keeper who they got on a free transfer from Manchester Storm, an escapee from Auschwitz stepped up to fill his boots. Shaken but not stirred the Rangers picked themselves up, knowing at least that with Russ on there side, there was no way the other teams boots could be more expensive :)

Bramhall Rangers vs 8-Carrotgold - Match Preview

Bramhall Rangers go into tonights game looking to kickstart their season. After a reasonably decent start - a close defeat, a good win and a draw - last week saw a poor Rangers side get thrashed 15-3.

In tonights team news, there are a couple of absentees and a debut. The biggest loss for the Rangers will be the absence of Mini, who has been the main goal getter this season. He is missing tonight, which means a Bramhall Rangers league debut for Big Rick. Lets hope the old man of Bramhall Rangers can inspire the team to a good performance tonight. Also missing will be Rascle who had this cheery message for the team : "Seeing as I’ve not left the house since I got back. And that includes today. I have the wonderful joy of having food poisoning. So today Matthew, I shall be bleeding out my ass, and drinking weak sweet tea or fruit juices according to nhs direct." Lets hope he's better soon!

Mini, whilst currently away in Austria at the moment doing a touch of skiing, did take time to get in touch with a message for his team mates :
"Hey champ! Good luck with the rangers tonight. I won curling last night. Try and score a goal this time."

8-Carrotgold should prove a tough opposition. Currently sitting one place and 4 points above the Rangers in the league.

Their results are :
20/01/2005 12 - 8 THE GRISWALDS
27/01/2005 6 - 8 DAW BANKERS
03/02/2005 15 - 10 NORTHERN CANARIES
10/02/2005 10 - 9 THE SLIM JIMS

Lets hope, if nothing else, there is a better performance from the Rangers tonight.

UPDATE : Rascle has given himself a late fitness test and declared himself fit. Belch however has pulled out due to illness, so it means a return to the sticks for The Fist. Lets hope he can give Belch a run for his money.
