Rangers help their fellow club...

As you may well know, Stockport County were taken over by their Supporters Trust during the pre-season, which will hopefully lead to the beginning of good times for the Hatters.
The first game under the Trust's control was against Mansfield at the beginning of August, which County drew 2-2.
The programme that was produced commemorated this important occasion in County's history.

As part of this day, as a fan you could pay a small amount of money to the Trust to help them fund a new initiative of a Family Lounge before the game and have your name in the program as a supporter. As a family we had our name put in, and i paid for Bramhall Rangers to be included.

The Family Lounge has since proven to be a success and County are starting to go from strength to strength. Bramhall Rangers can safely say they have played a part in that, even if it was only a small part...

Rangers 11 Cheadle Utd Thursday 3

Mini sends Rangers weak at the ankles!!

Rangers marched up the league table with a comfortable win this Thursday, over the Division 6 whipping boys Cheadle Utd Thursday. They now sit proudly in 2nd place, not on goal difference, but by 1 whole point, after other results went their way.

The game saw the same team as last week, the conditions were poor, slippery, wet and cold which didn’t allow for pretty football.

Rangers took an early stranglehold on the game, Piggy and Mini scoring in quick succession, and Rangers rotated the subs well to keep fresh. It was after about only 5-10 minutes when Mini was forced off after a very painful turn on his ankle, playing an innocuous ball. A recurrence of the injury he suffered just fewer than 2 months ago that evidently hadn’t fully healed. The right ankle just gave way and put Mini out for the rest of the game. A subsequent trip to A&E confirmed no break, but ligament damage, which means rest for 2 weeks. Frustrating but it could have been worse.

Rangers were not fazed by this injury and went on to win the game comfortably. As I was injured and didn’t really watch most of the game the report from here on will be brief and patchy.

From all accounts Belly had a bit of a mare, fumbling a couple into the net in the wet conditions. Finishing was poor but Hedderz managed to grab a few, about 5 if I remember and Pie also grabbed a couple of decent goals.

And that’s about all I can write up really. If anyone wants to have a better go and put the scorers etc on then feel free, but this is as good as it gets from me.

Final Score: Rangers 11 Cheadle Utd 3
Goals: Mini (1), Hedderz (5?), Pie (2), Piggy (2?), Shiz (1?)

Rangers 5 The Griswalds 2

Piggy brings home the bacon!

Well. After the doom and gloom of the 1st game of the new campaign, Rangers ended the 3rd week with two wins on the board. This week’s opposition were The Griswalds, who always provided a good game. They had gotten the better of us on two occasions last season, but Rangers went in confident after last week’s victory. There were two changes to the team from last week, Hedderz and Rascle replacing Lifey and Dr. Holland (Patch) who were unable to play due to work commitments.

It was an early KO, and on the usual pitch the game got underway. The two sides were amazingly evenly matched, but it was the Griswalds who took the lead, the striker stabbing home after a tussle with Mini.

The game was low scoring and it was a little while before any more goalmouth action. The equaliser eventually came when a well-worked free kick by Pie gave Justin the chance to open his account for the season, which he did assuredly, slotting in across the face of the goal.

Rangers took the lead too, right at the end of the half, Piggy grabbing his first goal of the evening, which started a superb game for the much-criticised striker. He was raising the bar for his own performances, really building on last week. The finish was sublime, turning the defender, and crashing home a shot from wide right into the top left corner.

A low scoring game, Rangers defended well until half time, holding the 2-1 lead at the break. Mini was battered and bruised after being hacked down a few times, twice whilst bearing down on goal. But spirits were high as the Rangers sensed something special.

Second half was even better for the Rangers, solid defending from Rascle and Shiz, and good up and down work from Pie and Hedderz limited the chances for The Griswalds. When the chances did come Belly was more than equal to the task pulling of great saves and double saves, but we have become accustomed to that really! More of formability!

Mini and Piggy linked well too, and Mini notched up his two for the game, one after a great defence splitting through ball from Zinadine Zi….Rascle!!! Piggy also, grabbed his second goal, capping what could be said was the MOTM performance!! Bring it home Piggy, bring it home!

The distractions of the homosexual chanting of “Come on Grissas!!!” and “Slip it behind big man” were not enough to psychologically damage the Rangers, who deservedly picked up a 5-2 win in the end, and will want to build on that for next weeks game versus Cheadle Utd.

Final Score: Rangers 5 The Griswalds 2
Goals: Mini (2), Piggy (2), (Hedderz (1)

Bramhall Rangers 5 Puss in Boots 4

Rangers breathe life into new season!

This Thursday’s game saw the Rangers pitted against a good side in Puss In Boots. After last weeks horror performance, the main aim was not to come away feeling depleted again. The team was quite strong, just Rascle and Mr T missing, with a foot injury and through holidaying respectively. As with all late kick-offs Hedderz was unavailable.

So, a couple of weeks back saw the return of Rangers stalwart Nev, but this week it was the turn of Lifey to step into the breach. Maybe the extra attacking option and fitness would boost the Rangers.

Rangers were buoyed by the fact that PIB had just 5 players so no subs, meaning Rangers could play a patient game and let the ball do the work. Knowing that eventually the PIB would tire.

Conditions were decent and the game was low scoring. The first half was very tight. 1-1 at the break in fact, with PIB taking the lead quite early on but Piggy pouncing on a bobbling ball on the edge of the box to tap in the equaliser. The half time talk was different, as the Rangers could sense and opportunity to pick up some much needed points.

Coming out of the blocks again it was important to get a lead. Again the 2nd half was quite low scoring, both sides, never seemingly that comfortable, shared the lead and goals. Piggy picked up his second and Lifey nabbed a goal on his comeback, finishing well. Mini also struck, two left footers giving the Rangers a 5-3 lead with 6 minutes to go.

However, the old football adage came to pass in that a team is most vulnerable after it has scored. PIB went straight down the other end to peg it back to 5-4. Some last ditch defending, poor finishing and superb goalkeeping by Belly frustrated PIB and when the final whistle went it was relief as the Rangers picked up an unexpected victory and the first points of the new campaign.

PIB are a decent team but struggled with just the 5. There was a vocal crowd on the touchline amused by Piggy’s numerous names, Dr Holland’s shorts, Belly’s “dancing” as they called it, and Pie’s rolling and falling!

Final score: Rangers 5 Puss in Boots 4
Goals: Mini (2), (Piggy (2), Lifey (1)

-= Injury News =-

Bad to worse for "Anton Lowe" winner, Rascle McPherson.

Rascle's return to Rangers football was hampered last week by a recurrence of the fabled "toe" injury. This dubiously small injury was likely to rule Rascle out for this weeks match against Puss In Boots Thursday. However, whilst carrying heavy items at work, and stumbling over a loose wire, Rascle felt a ping in his right foot akin to a suspected metatarsal injury that ruled him out earlier in the year. Rangers medics will keep an eye on the situation, and Rascle, seen left on the picture above receiving his Anton Lowe Memorial Award, can be assured the best medical help possible, with the Rangers comprehensive health plan. Which Dr Holland is said to be head of.

Lets wish Rascle McPherson a speedy and painless recovery.

3 T Army 15 Bramhall Rangers 3

Don’t dress it up Piggy, it was bloody awful!!

Probably the worst ever performance for Rangers this week, and that is saying a lot considering what has gone before. Even when we played our first season at Vida and lost 30-6 every game at least we played to the best of our abilities and enjoyed the football. Last night was nothing more than a joke! And not a particularly funny one!

A reasonably strong Rangers team (well considering what we have to offer) lined up. Rascle had a toe injury, I repeat toe injury, and Hedderz was absent due to the late KO. Other than that Rangers were up to full quota. Opponents this week were newly relegated 3 T Army, who we knew very little about.

Amazingly the Rangers took the lead and started brightly, scoring after only a few seconds. Pie attacking down the right, closing down the defence and jabbing home the loose ball. 3TA levelled things up after good movement dissected the defence, but again Rangers showed courage and bounced back, Shiz continuing his good form from last season, poking the ball home from a tight angle.

Then unfortunately rigamortis and muteness set it.

The Rangers collapsed. Numerous goals were conceded through lack of communication and poor passing (simple things even at this level). 3TA commented to members of our team that they had never scored so many goals, and that even they were amazed by our lack of movement. It was like human statues at times until a mad burst down the flank by Shiz often created a passing opportunity. The shot count was low for Rangers, for which Mini and Piggy should shoulder the blame as the main attacking force. But distribution from the back and middle of the park combined with lack of communication was a key factor.

Half time came and it was about 10-2, and a disconsolate Rangers team trudged off. Belly struggling to cope with the seemingly relentless attacks on his goal must feel these defeats are a personal slight on him.

Second half was a better type of poor from the Rangers. They kept the score down in the second half but managed only the one goal - Mini slotting home after good communication and link up play with Piggy. When we do it, it works, but it’s all to infrequent.

Final whistle went and the score seemed flattering on Rangers despite suffering there worst defeat in a few seasons. Not the great start to the season we had hoped for. Looking at the results and table this season’s is anyone’s to play for, with White Russians winning the game of the day over Northern Canaries.

We will be back again next week, but how many more seasons of this can the Rangers continue to suffer. Not many I would suggest.

Final Score Rangers 3, 3 T Army 15
Goals: Pie (1), Shiz (1), Mini (1)
