Bramhall Rangers 3 Monkhouse Gladbach 12

You never quite know what you are going to get when you play Monkhouse Gladbach, as when they have their normal team out it is usually a good game and one in which the Rangers can prevail in. On the other hand when they get in three ringers like this game, it is very hard and somewhat unfair in that they reach a higher level.

Rangers had strength in numbers though this week. Jim returned for his second game and there were appearances for Nev returning after a few games out, and Mr T was able to make the trip. Shiz, back from his hols, was in the squad too.

The game didnt go too well for the Rangers as a combination of a lack of match practice, new squad members and generally being poor at football Rangers were second best all over the pitch. It wasnt long before they were staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat. Monkhouse scored four goals in quick succession to marhc into a comfortable lead. There were fears that there could be a repeat of the first game of the season which was a 10-0 defeat. Belly had a moment to forget when a seemingly harmnless effort from distance was palmed into the air, only for it to drop over Belly's head into the goal. Heads dropped.

However, before half time there was a very spirited fightback from the blues. Mini scored with a decent shot on the turn, evading the keeper at his near post. Then, amazingly, Peter passed the ball to Shiz who found it easy to score his first of the season from the centre of the goal. With the time ebbing away Jim notched his second in as many games. A long range effort megging the keeper to make it 4-3. Rangers went in at half time with a bit of confidence.

The game drifted away in the second half. Several defensive mix ups and poor tracking of men led to leaks in the defence. Belly was exposed and Monkhouse capitalised with clinical finishing. At times it was like headless chickens in defence.

The Ranger's were wasteful in front of goal too. Mr T fluffed a clear open goal when it was harder to miss, and Mini was guilty of missing the odd one on one. Peter failed to get too many shots away as he was dancing. Nev also fizzed in a good effort which just skimmed wide of the post. Mini rattled the bar with a powerful effort but ultimately it was defensive mishaps that cost the game.

Next week sees the return of Ranger's talisman Pie, and maybe Rascle depending on a fitness test. There could be 8 Ranger's for the game for the first time in a while.

Final Score - Bramhall Rangers 3 Monkhouse Gladbach 12
Goals - Mini (1), Shiz (1), Jim (1)

Nev goal watch - 40

The marking and tracking was woeful at times. More passing and moving would be good as most of our goals game from this approach.

One to forget about I think.

I think you were very kind to us Mini (especially me) - I reckon I could normally have stopped a lot more of them. Hopefully as I get more matches again things'll improve.

Anyway roll on CUT :)
