Rangers 3 TNC 6

Honeymoon period over!

Rangers slipped to only their 2nd defeat of the season last night, succumbing to an average TNC team. The Rangers put in a decidedly average performance themselves, and although TNC never put the game beyond Rangers it was difficult to see the Rangers getting anything from the game.

Dr H returned to the squad after a bout of a virus and Mr T settled back in after his globetrotting. Lifey made his second performance of the season, as Mini was merely a spectator, missing his first game with injury.

Belly, Piggy, Pie and Shiz made up the rest of the team. TNC were a new team who had not been encountered before and although they looked quick and fit, were nowhere near the best we had played against.

Rangers took the lead with Dr H finishing of a fine move with a curling right foot shot from distance after good build up play. It was soon 1-1; though Rangers did nick the lead again with Pie finishing from a very tight angle after good work down the left had side. TNC didn’t seem to cause to many problems as often their shooting was wayward, but towards the end of the half they seemed to move up a gear and went in at the break with a 4-2 lead. Some of the defending and communication from the Rangers was poor, and Belly will be disappointed with one of the goals. Beyond that, and the odd throw out, Belly did keep many one on one chances out, marshalling the edge of his area with great precision and determination.

The Rangers gave their attackers far to much time and space on the ball, but were not afforded the same luxury themselves. A lack of movement and passing was a big problem.

Second half was low scoring again, the Rangers only adding one to their tally. It was however a decent goal, Lifey playing a through ball and a first time (?) effort from Rascle nestled in, quite similar to Dr H’s. It was scant reward for the Rangers tough, who conceded 2 more as tiredness and committing men forward in search of the goals led to gaps at the back.

Rangers were never outplayed and another day may have finished their chances, Lifey, Pie, Piggy and Rascle all squandered opportunities. Next time, we will all be a little wiser and prepared for the game and it should prove an interesting encounter. Ranger scan take heart as although they didn’t seem to defend that well, the score was kept down.

Dropping a place in the league Rangers now lie 3rd. It will be the same squad next week against White Russians whose early season form has dipped. They were a beatable team but the Rangers will need to be on their game.

Things to take into next week would be for players to take some responsibility. If it is easier for you to put a tackle in rather than wait for someone to run the length of the pitch to do it for you then do so. It may not be your man, but at the end of the day we are a team and need to help one another out.

Final Score: Rangers 3 TNC 6
Goals: Pie (1), Dr H (1), Rascle (1)

Good report.
You will be glad to know my ankle is very very painful. Hopefully it will be ok for next week, but we will have to wait and see.
Felt we were a little unlucky - on another day a few more of our chances would have gone in and it would be a different story. Their keeper didn't really make any decent saves, everything was straight at him. We could have been a touch better defensively, especially with a couple of their goals. I hold my hands up for that mistake though (at least they didn't score from it!).
A couple of things i am trying to take on board for next week - one is being more alert to the situations such as above. The second is to try to look up more when i have the ball in the corner. Its difficult when you have someone on you, but i want to try...
