Awards update

I hope everyone had fun at the awards on friday and enjoyed their little gift. I know some couldnt see the point, and if people can give theirs back to me if they wont use it, as we dont have enough, and i'd prefer they went to useful homes!

Anyway, i will post full report on as soon as Mini gets me the pics! The winners for those of you that cant wait that long were:

Golden Boot (17 goals) - Piggy
One Hit Wonder - Gregg
Sicknote - Mini
Ruud Gullit - Mini
Coco the clown - Piggy, Pie
Most Improved - Mark
Player of the Season - Belch

Anton Lowe award - Belch

But check out Piggy's blog to find out why he thinks belch is undeserving of his player of the season award! Oh, and for those of you who think bumming piggy is the way to get good results, go and see how misled you've made him!!!

I have to disagree here I'm afraid.

Now as Piggy said on his blog, I may not know much about alot, but about footy I do know my onions are worthwhile.

One thing I cant understand is that for nearly 3 years it has been pretty much negative all the way, not just for Piggy but the team in general. Comments after the game etc. for example after a result a few weeks ago we all felt we had played really well and battled hard, yet despite this there were still little snipes and comments such as " why did nobody follow up shots" etc. Why not for once we just try to focus on the positives and take them into the next game.

Just answer me this, for 3 years we have tiraded Piggy with abuse (me included for periods) to what end, nothing. At the end of Vida and start of Powerleague his confidence was shot to peices. So I, and Shiz have decided that that may not have worked so, have tried to go in the opposite direction and praise everyone, not just Piggy when he does well, which is why he got my vote this season for MIP and POTS. Not because I was "bumming" his but because comparitavely he was the best player this season, and MIP. Using the quote from the Griswalds person, a neutral, this is shown.

If the past is anything to go by, we should give Piggy a few years of support to see if has an impact on his game.

And yes, Piggy makes daft comments on occassion, about Belly not being deserving etc. but it really isn't hard to take everytjing with a pinch of salt. Try not to get sucked in. He knows he is doing it and it will be posts like this that encourage him.

I for one know that since I and Shix have started to support himk more he has started scoring, being selfish and our only attacking threat. And by his blog you can see that his confidence is high. As long as he is still doing the business on the pitch, try not to be caught hook, line and sinker by his comments. After all the awards are supposed to be for stuff on the pitch not off it.

Essay finished:)

I disagree. Its only been recently i've started slagging Piggy off again, because encouraging and trying to explain and talk with him doesn't seem to work either.

I disagree that he has improved. In fact he has stood still (and until the latter half of last season i would say he went backwards when he was barely scoring). He still has the occasional decent game (note decent, i wouldn't say good). But he still does things that are so simple to stop doing (or should be anyway) that i am at a loss to understand why.

When you try to talk to him about it, he just makes jokes and treats it all as a laugh. Which i suppose it is at the end of the day, but its becoming less and less of a laugh when he doesn't listen or even seem to try and take on board.

I know what you're saying mini. And it should make sense. start praising him instead of abusing him. I always try to pick on both good and bad points when people play. say it as you see it. If someones having a great game, tell them. If there's only a few niggles that they need to play the perfect game, then tell them! Its all very well turning round and saying "yes, we did well there only losing 7-0. great defending. shame we didnt score." But why should we not say "great defending, good work rate, but for gods sake we need to communicate more! Stop sitting on the floor. and can we please start passing instead of trying to get past all 4 outfield players!"

See what i mean? Depending on who you talk to, then different results can be obtained! I prefer to hear that i've played well, then tell me how to improve. I'm afraid john's right. because Piggy now seriously and honestly thinks heis the best player, he doesnt see the need to listen to people. You cant help but notice that he never listened to shiz or you before. And to be honest, now he listens, he doesnt do. I HATED him being selfish on thursday. The reason he was called the best striker on our team? he was the one player pushing forward and taking on players. which is great! tho why didnt he pass the ball to screaming players who were open, while he is trying in vain to skip round the whole team.

There's only one solution i'm afraid. Cheering doesnt help him. Yelling doesnt help him. Let's just plain ignore him. Concentrate on our own game, stop infighting over a daft player. and let him work out his own skills. It was a democratic vote, albeit for silly 5-a-side awards. But more people thought other players were invaluable. I still think had mini played much more games, he would have been player of the season. great in goals great as a striker.

Now lets all stop arguing about piggy. It never gets anywhere. And if we were serious about winning and playing well, we'd be training on a monday instead of going to the pub!!

Thats the main thin. If you give his opinions air time he will pik up on that and keep going. I mean, conversation generally is about Piggy which cannot be a good thing.

However, my main point is that we bereated him for 3 years, surely its only fair to praise/tolerate his play him for a similar amount of time. Which quite clearly has not happened!

What was more detremental on Thursday was the infighting which occured when they got a few goals.

When we are saying about moving forward and improving, noone has improved that much really. Stamina etc are easy to improve in the great scheme of things, but ball control, passing and finising are harder to pick up and Im sorry to say most have sadly been lacking, but we still praise those that have improved stamina etc. All I think we need is to appreciate each player for what they bring. Is giving a goal away on the edge of the box any different that ballooning a goalscoring chance over the bar unmarked and under no ressure any diferent, I think not, but it is the mess ups in defence that are highlighted more than the others.

With regard pasing more on Thurs, yes this was a problem for Piggy. But when he was in a team with who he was, no offence but I think I would have done the same because of little confidence in the others in the attacking third. Maybe if others improved attack wise he would be more willing to pass, just the same as if Piggy learnt to defend better we would be willing to forgive the odd mistake.

It swings in roundabouts to me, but the more arguments there are the less good it does. At least Piggy is confident on the pitch which he hasnt been for years!

Confidence that resulted in the comment:
"Don't worry John, when i win the player of the season award, i wont have to listen to you. i can just say 'john, i'm player of the season'. "
Lets hope Belly doesnt let it go to his head!

Yeah, thats why its important to take everything he says with a pinch of salt (Russ and John!) as most of what he says is to try and wind people up, and unfortunately you guys fall for it hook, line and sinker!!!:)

Piggy has always had an arrogance about him, his comments now are no different!

Excuse me. I know exactly when he is winding me up. I don't fall for it. I just try to put him straight on a few things he is misguided on.

He just frustrates me because everything is one big joke to him.
