Monkhouse Gladbach 13 Bramhall Rangers 11
Well what a game this turned out to be. The weather was cold to the 1's and 2 degrees and the team would be down to 6 for the first few minutes of the game awaiting Nev's arrival. Rangers became worry when, in pre match training Mark was caught on the angle and it looked like he would need the recovery time as our ownly sub.
The game started with some great play and we were ahead with some slick passing movement and quick shooting. The opposition seemed a weaker side as not only had they 5 in their squad but even in the first half they seemed to lack a desire, possibly due to the cold. The good run however, did not last and a number of defences errors from yours truely were to blame for their fight back. One of their goal was shot straight through my legs and passed Belch in those situations there is really nothing anyone can do.
John has playing well and he was putting himself about and getting into great positions to score and to create and boy can he create when he wants to. There were some all round good 1-2's and a higher level of awareness of where each player was for the pass.
In a bid to amend my mistakes earlier I tried to create something from nothing with a brief dance in the middle of the park having to finally lay it off to John for the shot. It is true that to score in this game you really need to shoot on site.
The half ended with a draw 6-6 and we felt that this was perhaps a good result considering our defensive problems. Nevertheless, we would push on in the second and after a motivational speech by our legendary Captain the Miniture Man it was time to take it to enemy and within a few minutes Nev would bravely step up and miss our single penalty. Well done for Christian Baleing me out as I don't feel 100% at taking them but I would say that Mini & John need to be our 1 and 2 takers in the future so please you two step forward and somebody argue for the chance.
The chances were wild at both ends of the pitch but 15 mins in the second an appeal to ref by Mini took all our attentions off the incident in the corner and I had to ask Mark what happened. No answer was forthcoming, so there was no point appealing to the ref without evidence. He did ask me what happen when he came over so I guess he didn't see anything either. The guy who foul Mark said he caught him with the back of the head but only Mark knows what happened.
He was subbed with Big Pete as quickly as possible and Charlotte kept him warn whilst I went for an ice pack. I was concern about con cussion but he was not tired just very cold. Well done Fist I hope you are ok but I would love it if you got a black eye to show the kids at school.
With the rest of game to play it was the Gladbach's that fort back first with goals and we returned the favour but with all our effort we missed out by 2 goals. I personally want to win but I was pleased with how we went forward with unselfish play. Others will look at this game as a chance of victory missed and they are right. We pressed hard and we should expect the results once in a while and on behalf of myself I appologies for my mistakes. I will make more I will just need to stay focused and think of what's happening when I don't have the ball instead of always thinking about what I will do when I get it.

Mr T was nobbled by Peter.
I discussed this briefly with Shiz last night and the key thing to take from last nights game for me was:
If you make a mistake (misplaced pass, don't track man, poor control) that leads to comceeding a goal then that should spur you on to either get a goal back (redress the balance) or make sure it doesn't happen the next time (make a last ditch tackle or block, or sprint that extra bit harder to prevent a shot on target).
I feel that for the most part we do this. I will try to bag a goal to cancel out a mistake I made, Pie the same and Nev, Shiz and Mr T will go that extra mile to make sure that an eror they may have made in defence is not repeated.
It is about taking responsibility for your ownb actions and not relying on team mates to get you out of the mire.
3 mistakes by Peter in the opening 10 minutes and probably 6 by the end of the game resulted in half of their goals. It is not fair to put your teammates under so much self inflicted pressure in a game as we have enough problems already.
I'm sorry to say that..."In a bid to amend my mistakes earlier I tried to create something from nothing with a brief dance in the middle of the park having to finally lay it off to John for the shot."...doesn't really cut the mustard over a 50 minute game.
And as for the penalty, yes maybe me or J could have taken it. j was off the pitch though and I was eager for someone else to get on the goal trail as for too long we have relied on 1 player to bail us out. Again, it is about taking responsibility, ownership of the situation and a bit of balls. Thankfully Nev did just that, and it is no disgrace to miss a pen.
All in all it is a missed opportunity as in terms of desire last night we wanted it more than them, but were sadly lacking in the composure department.
While I was very very pleased to score 4 goals (the first time since the one game against Classic Homes at Vida) and get into double figures for the first time ever, and be on course for the 'silver boot', I would have swapped all that for us winning!
It was a winnable game, and as Mini said a number of goals could have been prevented if you (Piggy) had listened to your team mates, both during the game and from the games before. Everyone else does, and improves, or at least tries to improve their game as a result. But you seem to have stood still, or almost gone backwards if you look at the lack of goals you are scoring!
It really gets quite disheartening for the rest of us putting in the hard work and effort for nothing when stupid mistakes get repeated more or less every week (I took one in the balls, THE most painful thing i have ever experienced, but for nothing!).
Anyway credit to Nev for stepping up to take the penalty. I'd have had it had I been on the pitch at the time.
And credit to the rest of us for battling away.
Mark - I hope your eye is ok, and please for the love of god learn how to shoot! Two open goals... :)
That was one of the most disheartening games I've played in. Words simply don't describe adequately how I feel. It has all been said before, so I will simply re-iterate the core point of the above two posts... take responsibility for your actions. I'm afraid words and apologies no longer cut it. When almost everyone else in the team has a different view on the game to you, perhaps its time to try playing the game the way they want you too.
One thing I would like to say to Big Pete is to listen to people!
You say afterwards you will next time, but when next Thursday comes around everyone is shouting SHOOT or GET RID OF IT at the top of their voices (including me) but you always seem to do the exact opposite and that's why people then get pissed off with you.
From my old days of playing outfield I know it can be hard to hear what someone is shouting when others are shouting stuff but the fact is we are all shouting the same thing!
Rant over.
Belly had a rant! :0
Whatever next! :)
