Bramhall Rangers 9 - Cheadle United 10
It was a grim day in rangers football once more. Although i wasn't there, i heard stories of selfish subs, showboating play, and lack of focus. Alas it's our second defeat to the evils of lower teams. How we play so well against top of the table teams, and fail to beat bottom teams is anyone's guess. Sometimes we're playing bad. Sometimes team selection just isn't there. And sometimes the lower teams fight more fiercely for victory. Often smelling fear or opportunity.
As no-one did a match report, although i assume goals will follow, I thought it might be good to remind people of just who the rangers truly are. A fun group of lads who socially play football for neither glory nor goal. But purely because we have nothing better to do on a Thursday night. I present the ever classic, now uploaded to you tube to save my bandwidth, 2005 montage...

ps. Rascle will be out of action for the foreseeable future due to work commitments (or lack of therein!).

Hello, sorry chaps, I was meant to do a match report and got bogged down in bed shopping over the weekend.
Key things were:
- As Mini discussed with me, when we're a couple of goals up, with a couple of minutes left, in a tight game. We need to put our most solid and steady team out. It is not the time for taking risks with a few minutes left. Solid, playing the percentages, dare I say time wasting, is the way we need to go. We did ourselves no favours carrying on all guns blazing in the dying minutes in this game
- Goal side means between the player and the goal, not the player and the back line. The subtle difference is key when up against Mr Fashion Crime.
- Against a super speedy player like Mr Fashion Crime, if you see him get ahead of the player marking him, and you can intercept, then swap players and try and tackle Mr Fashion Crime. Even if it leaves your player open to receive a pass. Its far better for us to have any other player on Cheadle Uniteds team shoot then Mr Fashion Crime.
Scorers were: Mini 5, Jim 2, Grim 1, ShiZ 1
There was a close call on the Piggy dancing, but I reckon another defender could have covered him (they didn't, but thats not Gumps fault)
