Burnage Football Thursdays
Gentlemen, I have contacted Burnage Rugby Club and they have availability for Thurdays. The times range from 6pm-7pm and 9pm-10pm. Its not an Ideal time as it could have been half an hour later but purhaps it will focus peoples minds. Now, I have not booked anything yet until I can get at least 7 to commit. I can then arrange for some extras to step in. Justin also made the comment today that the pitches are a little bigger than Power league so we should be looking for 12 for a good game. Anyway we can aim for the 5th July so if you can leave a note on this page it would be helpful. I will also be sending out reminders via email. As I said not Ideal but these places get booked up at those prime times.
Well researched Peter! But i have to say, i thought the reason we gave up rangers this season was due to the unlikely nature of getting 5 together weekly! 12 might start being a big big ask! tho granted, this won't be a weekly affair, and people are slightly more likely to play if its a friendly instead of a team you're worried about getting injured against!

I have to admit to having the same feelings as Russ - if we can't get 5 or 6 people together regularly then what hope have we of getting 10 or so?

ReplyDeleteLets try not to be negative here lads, if enough people sign up great, if they don't, no problems it was worth a try. Some replies have not answered the question. How can anyone organise if the replies don't state whether you'd play or not?
Fisrt of all I said that the pitch is big enough for 12 just in case we have more than 10, not we should have 12. Playing with 10 is fine and gives a little more time on the ball, but there is a lot more running.

Thats 11. You then have ringers. I can get people from work, Pete can, Shiz can, so as long as we have 8 from the list above then we should be fine.
I would be happy to play at the earlier times, but say no to anything later than maybe 8.00pm.

We did give up PL as we struggled to get 5 a week but with these friendlies we can play as and when and aren't committed to 12 games that we struggle to make. Also people are more willing to play as they are "friendly", and we can pick more sociable hours. That is how I see it anyway.
I would be available every Thursday unless I say otherwise but only for KO's 8pm and earlier.
I would be able to get Jim on a semi-regular basis at the earlier times too.

People will still get injured.

ReplyDeleteI wont be able to make the 5th. I dont get home til 7 most days anyway, and that will continue until i get my car. On the 5th its close books at work. That means 9-6 shift for me, and home at 810!
So it will still remain a rare sight to see me at footy due to work commitments! Until i get a huge 12litre 4X4 anyway!
Pie - It shouldn't be disappointing. There is a difference to commiting to one friendly game on the 5th July at a time of our choosing, then to a whole season at random times.
