Great Manchester Run 2006

It's that time of year again folks! The registration for the Manchester Run has opened. Lets try and get as many of us signed up as possible and make a real day of it. Raise some money for charity, personal achievement, the buzz of the day but most importantly fun!!

So far we have Mini, Shiz, Pie, Piggy and Charlotte committed to the run! It would be great to get a few more.

The link to the site for anyone to sign up is on the links section on the left hand side, but here it is again!

Great Manchester Run 2006!

Remember, it's a run not a race! Lets make it a day to remember!

(PS. Once you pay it is an added incentive to get off your backsides and get fit!)

It's gooooooooooood!

If we get to the front for the start, and then all run hand in hand we will block anyone getting ahead of us and all win the race!!

Sounds like a plan to me!

Don't worry Piggy, we will let you break away with 100 yards to go so that you win!

We will give you that little bit of satisfaction!

what time is everyone registering as? I figure as a newbie, might be worth me running in a 70-80 min block!!! No chance of running at sub 60 like mark!!!

To be honest mate it makes no difference really. I think me and Shiz put 1.5 hrs for last year!!

I reckon you will probably be in the band you say but don't fret about it too much!

Or, alternitavely sign up for the disabled race!!!:)

Me and Justin put 60-70 minutes for this year. I did it in 70 last year and am hoping for a sub 1 hour time this year. But it doesn't really matter - its just more of an estimate so they know which wave to stick you in.

You can put a 'running buddy down' if you want - stick me or Justin down, Russ, then you should end up in our wave with us two and my dad, who is also running in it.

I think his knee might let him down somewhat. Plus he is at a wedding in Kent on the Saturday night, so he might struggle to get back in time!

In terms of doing it for charity, what are peoples plans?

I will do it for charity this year, and Charlotte is too. I was wondering whether we wanted to do it individually or we could try and collect money as a team.

Any thoughts on how or a potential charity.

I thought we could raise money for the "Save Critical Rascle, Our Terribly Unfit Mate", or SCROTUM!!

What do you reckon?
:)

Yes, unfortunately I won't be able to do it, probably more because of the wedding than my knee. Of course if I was running I'd most definitely be in the disabled section. But I'd still beat Piggy! :)

If you're after a charity, doesn't El work for one?

Shiz does stuff for Red Cross so thats an option too.

I will be running for the Red Cross again due to the links I have with the Manchester branch. But that doesn't mean anyone else has to, though of course, anyone wanting to would be more than welcome and I can help get them sponsorhip forms and T-Shirts and all that malarkey

But what about SCROTUM?!?!?!?!

11:03 am
Blogger -=EviL Ras=- said...

Yes Yes, Scrotum sounds like a great idea! However, i think seeing as my Gran is recovering from cancer, i shall try and raise for a cancer charity. That or animals, like WWF. (NOT hulk hogan!!)

Anyone know if that justgiving website can do a cancer charity?!

Yes! We should raise money for Hulk Hogan! I think we've cracked it!

well, its closed! 2 weeks and the entries have all gone! ah well. Means i wont be running this year then! Time to order pizza and stay in the warm!

Yeah, those reminders and emails and posts on the blog do make it hard to remember to sign up!!

Ah well, another year of illness, injury and ailment for you then!

Why not sign up for one of the other runs in the area, such as the Salford one that Shiz did last year.

I'm sure if you wanted others to do it too you could get them. Shiz might, and I would be interested if you found one...

There are still charities with spaces too.
Taken from the GreatRun.org site :
There are a number of charities with guaranteed entries available. If you would like to support one of those charities and raise sponsorship for them, please click here http://gmr.realbuzz.com/run_for_charity/ and contact your chosen charity direct for further details.

Of course, don't let that stop you from having another year of slobbing...
