Here's how things panned out...
WHAT WE ALL CRAVE!!!
Despite a few of the Rangers being absent for the awards, there was a still a decent turnout for Shiz’s ceremony which was nicely conducted. Belly, Amy, Mini, Peter, Nev, Russ, Ann-Marie and Mr T turned out for the certificate giving which provided its usual humour and memorable quotes.

Clearing up the most obvious award first, Mini picked up the Golden Boot for netting 31 times in 12 games. Peter was 2nd with 14 and Pie in 3rd with 9.

Onto the more important awards now, and for Most Improved Player the voting was quite one sided. Shiz picked up a vote for moving from “defensive midfield to attacking winger in just one season” and “his cooling influence on the team is often spotted as he diffuses arguments”.
Nev got a vote for “improved stamina and wit”, but the run away winner with 5 votes was Rascle. The big defender was given such accolades as “always improving stamina and awareness on the pitch, and notched up a couple of goals”, “continues to develop as a player every game and will be even better when his fitness improves”, proved har to beat as a defender and got a couple of goals” A well deserved award I think we would all agree!

It is usually only a 2 horse race to see who will collect the Coco the Clown award. And what will come as a relief to Pie, it went to Peter this season, in as unanimous a vote possible of 6 to 1. Peter’s vote going to Pie “for losing it”.
Numerous, lengthy quotes were given for the reason’s why Peter yet again got it. “the defection of Piggy to the Canaries for a brief second when he unleashed a powerful shot on Mr T’s goal was true Coco, as were his two consecutive own goals”, “The beetle break-dance will go down in Ranger’s folklore…rumours that Piggy uttered the words “cop a load of this!” before he commenced the body popping have been unsubstantiated”, “his dancing around his own goal area when a simple pass would suffice. His 9.6km turning circle. No one brings more humour nor humiliation to the Ranger’s experience!”. Pie summed it up succinctly with “As usual, f*cking annoying!”

Another award that has become distinctly one sided is the Sicknote award, and yet again no surprises as to the recipient. Belly collected the award with 4 votes. “Suggest a prosthetic, other teams have fielded them in the past”, “his knee obviously”. With two appearances already in the new season will Belly finally get this monkey off his back?

Nev got two votes despite only missing one game in about 3 seasons. Reasons were “I’m not voting Belch again!” and “Nev because of his black and blue toes. Yeah, it’s a shit choice, but anyone but Belly!”.
And with just the one vote was Shiz. “A chiropractor? You big sissy!”

The One Hit Wonder award was shared by 3 Ranger’s with 2 votes each.
The spare vote was for Hedderz, as “the 3 seconds he stayed on for he was pretty good against CUT”.
Pie collected his award for the evening for “his shot from distance that took a deflection and went in to make his hat-trick”, and “Mini has done it, Lifey has done it, so have Hedderz and Peter…hell even Shiz has done it! No, not perform cunnilingus on a midget…but scoring a hat-trick for the Rangers!
The absent Dr H collected a surprise award maybe, for “one appearance this season…with a post Markstock hangover!”. Mr T collected the award on his behalf.

The most bizarre award of the evening was the Rick Holland Sponsored Crunching Tackle Award. No-one picked up 2 votes “the reason why we do shit in a season because we don’t tackle and concede lots of goals!” the strong reasoning. Amy was no-one, so to speak!

All in all it was a very good ceremony and some well received awards. This season has started with a mixed bag and some old faces returning. How will the votes be cast next time round? Only time will tell!

Excellent pictures Russ, you are a credit to the team. I thought I looked happy on most of them aspecially the one were i'm kissing Mini.
I'm also V impressed with the quality!! Not bad for a 3.2MP camphone!! Tho one pic of mini gett6ing an award blurred, so i didnt post it up.
Well done to shiz for an entertaining night too! Looking forward to Marks ceremony! Just hope i get a good amount of games under my belt this season!!
