Fixtures for Summer 05'

Bramhall Rangers Match Information

Ok, john will need to redesign this, as the colours are out! but these are the fixtures. Started it off for him already.

Bramhall Rangers 6 - 6 Slim Jims

Ok, rascle index again.

Not bad. Tho match turned into a rough game. With people on their side fouling a lot again, and the ref being crappy and useless. Anyway, onto the stats, which might shock some people with its findings..

1-0 01.06 - John collects ball, rolls to Justin. He turns his guy, and shoots through the legs of another to score.
2-0 03.36 - Free kick. Justin rolls to open mini down the wing. He Passes back to Justin who shoots and scores.
3-0 05.04 - Shiz crosses ball to Russ, who squares it across the face of goal for Justin to miss, and then score with his own rebound.
3-1 09.23 - Pete intercepts the pass, but poor first touch Gives it to striker. Pete gives up running back with him, and he scores one on one with pie.
4-1 17.34 - John rolls to Justin, who runs down wing, and takes the shot. Keeper palms it out, and Russ taps in.
4-2 20.40 - Ball passed to striker, Justin gets turned, and striker shoots, he scores with his own rebound.
5-2 26.23 - Piggy passes to Russ, who shoots first time and hits the far post, Justin nails in the rebound.
5-3 27.54 - Justin passes to Piggy, whose poor first touch gives it to a player. He then passes back to Piggy's guy who is in acres of room, and scores.
5-4 32.10 - Free kick. Pie palms the shot out, strikers shot too strong for piggys tackle, and the ball flies into the net. Piggy was unlucky not to win the challenge.
5-5 37.28 - Mini passes to Piggy, whose poor first touch gives it to the striker. Despite good sprinting from piggy, he gets a shot in, which easily beats a stranded Pie.
6-5 42.56 - Player is subbing off, but hasnt told ref. Meanwhile, Justin takes free kick to mini, who flicks on to shiz, who scores off screen. Despite protests, goal stands as they didnt tell the ref they were subbing.
6-6 48.32 - shiz concedes free kick for tackling in the corner. No-one moves, and Russ's guy gets beyond a static Russ to score.
49.56 full time.

Justin had 17 shots, 1 assist, and 4 Goals.
Mini had 9 shots, 2 assists, and NO Goals.
Piggy had 6 shots, NO assists, NO Goals.
Shiz had 9 shots, No assists, and 1 Goal.
Russ has 7 shots, 2 assists, and 1 Goal.

We had 48 shots to their 51 shots.

I know we're not supposed to be Piggy bashing. But he scored no goals, had no assists, had less shots than the 2 defenders, and looks like 3 goals were a result of poor first touch. Although obviously, at times other players could probably have left their guy and sprinted to cover his error. So the goals aren't specifically his fault. He merely put other players under pressure. So he NEEDS to imprvoe this for next time. However, that said, he was tracking back a lot more, and you could see passion in his game! First time in long while! But he is FAST, and closed people down well at times!

Our 6th goal against was purely tiredness. Only justin moved, and i take responsibility for not covering my man. I was exhausted as i played a lot longer than usual. But i will aim to be better at this in the future.

Nice to see shiz return to form! Great tackling, and a goal to boot. And i'm proud that i scored a goal, and assisted 2 others. Seems practising now and again is really helping my attacking game! Although i need to call for the ball more, and call when i'm making a pass.
So, make of that as you will!

Welcomes and Updates

First of all hello to The Fist who joins the blog. I've sent Anton an invite too.

Secondly, I have updated the History and Matches pages. The match reports will appear as a popup window not unlike the comments on this blog. So far I have only done the first report but will copy the rest in when I have time.

Comments and criticisms are welcome.

Stats

Just before Russ posts his stats on the first game of the new season, a quick look back over the stas for last season.

Unless i have done my maths wrong, it looks like Belly conceded 99 goals! Didn't quite make the century.

Piggy ended up on a respectible 17 for the season - though must do better will be the cry for next season.

Mini ended up with an average of 3 goals a game which is fairly impressive. Would like to see the half century reached this season.

More on the website.

Belly - if you can whack me up a new table i'll do the same again. See Russ for the fixtures...

Don't Panic!

I know the blog is a mess, I've done a template file for a new site and am halfway through formatting the blog page which is a pain in the arse.

Also, since I've rarely posted on here, how do you guys usually post something? Do you go to the blogger.com site or is there a link on the blog page (I can't see one and fear it may have been deleted).

Anyway once the relatively empty pages are in place, whoever wants to maintain the content can whack whatever they want in them.

Update: The blog should now be working ok. The pages for the various links will be up shortly.

New Season

First game on Thursday KO is at 19:30.

Also, they said that they may start to introduce 18:30, 19:30, 20:30 games too, which I said shouldn't be a problem. Personaly I'd rather have an earlier one than a later one.

Bramhall Rangers 9 - Northern Canaries 11

Aaah.. Stats.. Precious Precious stats! How i love thee! But still, you're not here to read this crappy intro, you're here to read about how we got on with our 4th defeat in a row! So, let the stats begin!

0-1 00:23 - Belly rolls to mini, poor pass to piggy. Intercepted and despite a good sprint by mini, striker gets shot in.
1-1 03:03 - Rick intercepts goalies ball out. Passes to mini, who taps on to pie. Pie strikes first time for a good goal!
2-1 04:19 - Mini Passes to Justin, who turns well, and strikes.
2-2 04:49 - Pass to Russ' guy, who turns russ easily and scores.
2-3 05:41 - Keeper rolls to striker, who turns russ again, runs with the ball and scores.
3-3 14:23 - Pie passes to Mini, who taps on to Justin who scores.
4-3 20:02 - Mini gets rebound of his own shot. Russ runs into middle of box and calls like a banshee. Side foots the pass into the goal. Best goal of the season };oP
5-3 21:23 - Good work by justin in the corner. Strikes ball off boards, and hit first time with venom by piggy to score.
5-4 22:01 - Justin pass to piggy. Poor control, guy passes across to Pie's guy, who gets 2 yards on pie and scores.
********half time******
6-4 25:40 - Belly rolls to mini, who does a great pass to piggy with the outside of his foot. Piggy gets another scorching shot.
6-5 27:00 - Good work by Piggy in attack. Ball tackled off him. Ball rolls down the middle, Pie and Rick both point at him, but he goes unchallenged, and scores.
6-6 27:15 - Ball rolled down middle. Hits Russ, and rolls to ricks guy, who is miles away from rick. Rick and russ too slow to get there.
7-6 27:40 - Bad pass by their guy, Russ intercepts, taps onto piggy, who scores again.
7-7 31:20 - Free kick against rick for heading ball. Passed to an unmarked striker who scores.
8-7 32:25 - Belly rolls to mini, who battles past a defender, and scores.
8-8 37:32 - Piggy does tackle on Russ' guy. Piggys guys guy gets rebound, and shots from long distance. Belly cant see shot due to big bald guy in the way. Everyone losses it with Piggy.
8-9 38:53 - Bad control by piggy. Striker turns round him, and slots past belly.
8-10 40:04 - Rebound off the boards, Guy dives, and takes mini with him, free ball rolls to unmarked striker. Pie and Piggy watch the goal. Pie argues with ref, tho apologises when he gets explanation. Mini and Rick yell at Pie. Confusion follows.
9-10 43:50 - Penalty to Rangers for keeper handling outside the area. Justin thumps it in.
9-11 45:22 - Keeper rolls to john's guy, turns jon and shoots. Ricks guy has acres of space for the rebound.

47:15 full time, and lights long gone!

So, for the Rascle opta index:

Justin had 14 shots, 1 assists, and 3 goals.
Pie had 5 shots, NO assists and 1 goal.
Mini had 17 shots, 5 assists, and 1 goal.
Piggy had 9 shots, NO assists, and 3 goals.
Rick had 11 shots, NO assists, and NO goals.
Russ had 2 shots, 1 assist, and 1 goal.

We had 53 shots to canaries 60 shots.

Once again we collapsed in the last 10 minutes. Another close game we could and should have won. And we started arguing amongst ourselves again. We had moments where we didnt play to the whistle. And sometimes we were just plain out of position. However, we didnt lose it with the ref like last week, Russ is pushing up more, and got a goal after practice last sunday. Belly made a string of fine saves!! We finish 3rd worst team on a thursday. Which is nice.

Next season starts on thursday, New whipping boys coming down from above. Should be helpful. Means we should be 5th next season, not 6th. Slowly slowly.

It is wise that we take on criticism from everyone. I'm not sure my first touch lets me down. But often my pass can lack conviction. I'm working on that! And we all struggle with fitness! The last 10 minutes is painful to wtch. Very few people running. Lets roll on and stop losing by 2-3 goals next season!

End of Season Review

Ok, the season is over and maybe a good thing too as it was petering out to nothing Last night was disappointing but hopefully we will come back stronger and better.

I had a thought that maybe it would be good to hear what everybody thinks of their own strengths and weakness so that players can get a hint of what they need to improve on and what they can take heart from. I will start first and reckon we should try to mention 2 strenghts and 2 weaknesses/things that people could work on about each player, including themselves.

Belch
1. great shot stopping and reactions
2. marshals defence well and communicates

1. sometimes needs to slow play down when we are on top or under the cosh and not rush throwouts.
2. throw to the feet of less agile players to give them more chance of getting it under control.

Mark
1. Great tenacity and terrier like marking, close and tight.
2. can run all game and never gives up on a cause.

1. could do with more strength on and off the ball
2. try to improve confidence when has ball at his feet and be more sure with passes

Shiz
1. similar to mark, great tenacity and never say die attitude.
2. tackles like a terrier and great pace and recovery abilities

1. needs to be more productive with distribution after successfully winning the ball due to above strengths.
2. try to hit the target more and make the keeper work with shots.

Russ
1. great strength and power in the tackle J and always gives all.
2. good communication, keeps talking and calling for the ball

1. stamina is a clear problem are a but will come with more games and exercise
2. first touch is a problem as russ sometimes puts himself under pressure with a poor first touch.

Rick
1. another attacking option as good feet, confident on the ball and a good finisher
2. passionate and talkative (sometimes not constructive) but can gee up the players.

1. stands off his man too much and gives them too much room, needs to get tighter
2. again fitness and stamina which is a cause of problem 1. awkward to improve with his lifestyle and motivation.

John
1. good feet and can show glimpses of skill and control in the attacking third
2. passionate and always reliable to give you a steady, uncompromising performance.

1. could be stronger on the ball for a bigger guy and give as good as he gets in challenges.
2. needs to concentrate on the football and ignore attempts by opposition to get under his skin. Play to the whistle.

Pete F
1. has good feet and a good shot and needs to use them more often, can score plenty of goals when he has his mind on the job
2. has great stamina and personal fitness, we could all take a leaf out of his fitness book

1. very poor awareness and communication abilities. Needs to talk more and tune into games
2. often puts himself and/or teammates under pressure with poor communication, passing. Must learn to be sure with passes and keep the football simple.

Justin
1. powerful accurate shot which brings many goals to the team. Great power and strength all round
2. strong in the tackle and isn’t scared to ruffle a few feathers.

1. again, stamina and general fitness is a problem. Needs to improve so can get up and down the pitch to support def and att.
2. sometimes takes a long shot when may be more productive to pass and move towards goal. Maybe a result of the above.

Mini
1. creating chances for other team-mates with good passing and a confident first touch.
2. strong in the tackle, willing to punch above his weight. Shows the little guy can still pack a punch.

1. can try too much with a pass when the easy option is available thus putting the team underpressure.
2. sometimes tries to do too much on his own and should trust the abilities of his teammates more and pass on responsibility.

So they are my thoughts, hope I didn’t leave anyone off. Not meant as a abuse, hopefully constructive criticism.

As a team we need to learn to att and def as a team and not as individuals. Focus on football. We seem to forget that we are only losing games by 1-2 goals and we are not outclasses majorly as you would think with our reactions sometimes we are getti g slaughtered everygame.

A new season starts tursday, lets try and climb the leage and improves slightly.

Bramhall Rangers On Tour

I am hoping in the next few days and this weekend to start cobbling together the Bramhall Rangers On Tour part of the website. Not quite sure how i am going to do it yet, i know how i would LIKE to do it, but i am not good enough to do that. So i am slowly formulating a back-up plan...

Anyway if you have any pictures that i will require to include them, please e-mail them to me (you know my address - the home one if you please). Remember it is useful if possible to have a famous monument in the background, or something that you can identify the picture with.

Also please let me know what it is your stood next too - if its a giant golden statue of buddha for example, tell me what its called, where it is and why its significant if you can. I might be intelligent, but i don't know everything.

Ta for now!

Justgiving - Great Manchester & Great North Run 2005

Please donate to Shiz so he can run 10km. Without your donation, people like this are resigned to sitting at home in squalor. Just £10 will keep this hobo on the streets, running for his life. £50 would get him to smile whilst he does so. £150 would get him to Strip naked during the run. And a mere £300 donation will have him stopping every 500m to have a crap in the road.
Please donate generously. Keep HoBo's like this, out of homes.

Bramhallrangers.com

Ok, you may well know john's site. But the address is a nightmare to remember! So now remember just one thing.

http://www.bramhallrangers.com

I have a basic webpage up now, and will do some more stuff later. Currently it has loinks to everyones webpage! A nice hub then! It also has links to the blog and to johns things. It's not designed to replace those things, unless people want to have everything in one place! I have 200Mb of webspace. may as well use it!

Stats

OK added a bit about stats to the Rangers website. You know the link by now.
Pretty basic at the moment - i will add more and more as i get round to it.

At the end of the season i will start the cumulative totals and a records page up - you know best ever win, most goals scored in a game (team and individual) and all that. Be interesting to see i think.

Any suggestions, let me know...

Rascle sponsered Opta Index

Ok, was tired watching it last night, so i have a feeling i may have missed some stuff. But i logged the goals. The match was a HUGELY fierce one. We can see many stray and late tackles from everyone, including ourselves! But the index goes as follows:

1-0 00.11 Mini intercepts pass, one two with piggy, shoots and scores.
1-1 00.54 Striker turns big rick twice and shoots.
1-2 2.50 Bad shot is taken, the rebound is collected, and passed to john's man, who has acres of space and scores.
1-3 10.40 Free kick to big ricks man. Rick is MILES away. striker takes time to shoot.
1-4 10.55 Striker turns big rick, rides easily past piggy's limp challenge, shoots past both of them to score.
2-4 14.25 Justin passes to mini in the middle, who touches it to John. Justin yells for the pass, john shoots and scores off keeper.
3-4 15.10 From KO, justin takes poor opposition pass, takes a touch and shoots.
3-5 18.25 Striker turns an injury Rascle, goes through a limp piggy tackle, and scores.
********************half time****************
somwhere i missed a goal in the first half i suspect. so score adjusted to 3-6

3-7 32.32 a man down to due Mini's sending off. poor limp control by piggy from belly's pass. Opposition passes to open striker.
4-7 33.12 Pigy shoots, Rascle takes rebound and flicks it out back to piggy whose second chance goes in.
4-8 36.55 Justin slips, stays on floor. opposition passes to rascle's guy who quickly passes to ricks guy. he stands up the ball, passes it to justins guy who is now miles free and scores.
5-8 40.30 Big rick rolls the freekick back to justin who scores.
6-8 43.53 Belly rolls to mini, who passes to justin, who scores.
6-9 44.51 freekick passed to ricks man. rick too slow to tackle. goal scored.
6-10 47.10 ricks guy chips a low cross to mini's man who volleys it into net.
7-10 50.20 Rick turns his guy down the left wing, takes the ball closer to net, and shoots to score last goal of the match.

so, as it goes:

Justin had 16 attemps, NO assists, 3 goals
John had 3 attempts NO assists, 1 goal
Mini had 17 attempts 2 assists and 1 goal
Piggy had 7 attempts, 1 assist, and 1 goal
Rick had 8 attempts, 1 assist, and 1 goal
Russ had 3 attempts, 1 assist, and NO goals

54 shots for 7 goals.
Opposition had around 40(ish) shots for their 10.

I was tired when watching it! so i missed one of their goals somewhere! as i thought it finished 9-7, but powerleague says 10-7.

For the dubious record
Justin was likely at fault for 1 goal, mini for 1, john for 2, piggy for 3, rick for 2, Russ for 1. Tho we could argue that one of piggy's from lite control was actually mini's for being sent off!!

Sum up from that what you will!

Disgraceful!

Shocking scenes in football tonight, as the match between AC and Inter ended in violence. I got this gif off the county forum. This is the goalkeeper Dida getting hit by a flare in the shoulder, whilst more flares rain around him.

Its a 688Kb file, so will take time to load. Download it here by right clicking and choosing save as.

Fingers crossed that liverpools match goes violence free. Although it is a worry.
Thank god Rangers dont go through this!!!

Put piggy to the vote. The games are over.

wow..
In reply to mini's comment on the "11-12 8carrotgold" thread;

i must say, we're all harsh on piggy. At the best of times i feel bad about criticising him. But i have noticed just how much i say the "awareness" word now. How much he uses the outside of his foot to continually lose the ball. And its infuriating me about his pitch side manner after a substitution.
I have to ask that other people admit that he HAS shown glimpses of improvement. he's learning VERY slowly tho.
But as a team, we need to choose. Are we playing for fun, or for the win? We get so annoyed when we lose, so it can't all be matey fun. And there's really nothing pleasant about the bollocking that piggy endures by several members of this team that forget the jest in which we play. I still maintain that this is bad for piggy and the team.
But that said, encouragement hasnt helped. Criticism hasnt helped. Embaressing him in videos hasnt helped. Relentless gently pushing hasnt helped. Incessant hard pushing hasnt helped. I worry that dropping him really wont help. If you;ve noticed, whenever he is faced by a threatening person/situation, he will always go silent, turn away and quite often he will just change subject, or start talking to someone else. HE DOES NOT LISTEN. Christ, even time hasnt helped him.
I know i am not a good player. I am slow, labouring, and often indecisive. I dont commit to attack due to confidence. But i will give you all i can in defense! whether it helps or not, i try to be a productive member of the team. I'll never win a man of the match award, but then thats not what we ask of everyone!
I think as a team, we need to put this to a vote. Do we ask piggy to stand out for a match or two? Or face the fact that there are only 2 games left, and we may as well keep him in?
think about it...

Records!!!

Well it would appear that last nights game took us to 100+ goals against which is an achievement!

Although, we are not far behind in the "goals for" column, 96 I think (the site has gone down so I'm not sure).

The wrooying thing though is that about 66 of those goals so 2/3 have been scored by 2 players. Me and Justin. I think this is a clear problem as when we go through our bad spells, I had one 3-4 weeks ago and Justin has had one recently then we are pretty shafted.

Also, in 5-a-side footy every player has to perform to a decent standard as we cant afford to carry any players. I am of the opinion that Piggy was being carried and provided nothing at all to the team defensively or attacking wise. We need to find the best way to get the best out of him. However will we do that...

11-12 8carrot gold

Close match, that everyone agreed was played well. They had a fantastic guy who did so many darting runs. i'm starting to think we're getting a bit old for all this now! those young pups are killing us!

No stats, as there was no mark to film it. God i miss my stats...

Anyway, looks like john got 1, justin 2, piggy 2, mini 6? Can anyone confirm?

And finally, if you READ this, please add a comment as to what you took away from this match. I learnt to cover where the free kick is taken, not from where the foul is, as the ref moved the sodding ball over 18 feet away. I only ask you to do this, as when i questioned piggy, he changed the subject twice, made a joke once, and was silent for the 6th time. on the 7th time of laughing he said he learnt not to play on a dodgy ankle. So suffice to say he learnt nothing. AGAIN! Anyone else think this is beginning to sound like a stuck record? He did have a better game, but I REALLY want him to take it one step at a time, and take something from each game. Lets hope mini took "not falling over" away from this game, because he managed admirably!

golden boot 2005

For those that care, current goal stats are:
Mini 31 in 10
Justin 27 in 10
Piggy 13 in 9
Pie 4 in 11
Shiz 3 in 9
Fist 2 in 9
Rascle 1 in 8
Big Rick 1 in 2

Of further note, Seems like mark has ruled himself out of the team until the last match. and i'm taking it week by week. Foot is strapped, but does hurt less now.

Rascle's Verdict..

Ok, the Rascle sponsered Opta Index goes as follows. Please note i am NOT being malicious at any stage, and have only stated what i saw on the video.

1-0 3:16 - Mini scores. A pass from Piggy.
2-0 6:10 - Mini passes ball to justin from freekick, justin scores.
2-1 7:42 - Piggy freekick to mini, who strikes it against the boards. Opposition pick it up, and with 2 on 1, rolls it to the striker who scores.
2-2 9:02 - Piggy has poor touch, opposition get the ball, bounce it off the boards, Justin too weak in the pass to keeper, Striker rolls it V slowly passed stranded Belly.
3-2 9:31 - From kick off, mini to justin, justin takes long range shot, misses, Piggy controls the rebound and slots it in.
4-2 13:25 - Belly rolls to mini, who holds it, turns, shoots. goal.
5-2 23:59 - Belly rolls to mini, who turns, runs, shoots, saved, and Justin nets the rebound.

*************Second half************

5-3 27:26 - Opposition receives pass, turns past piggy, off the boards, Johns man gets past him, into space, and scores.
5-4 29:50 - Belly rolls to Piggy, who loses it in weak challange, strikers bounces off boards, to round john, and scores.
5-5 34:45 - Mini tackled off the ball, Opposition picks up the loose ball, Shoots, bounces off Big Rick, and scores with the rebound.
5-6 35:54 - Opposition takes shot, which misses, john taps the rebound too softly, Striker scores from the loose ball.
5-7 45:14 - Mini bounces off back boards, ball rolls our end of pitch, opposition picks ball up, passes across Piggy, striker slots past rick.
6-7 47:45 - Ball rolled down wing to john, who passes across face of goal for Justin to score our only goal of the half.
6-8 50:50 - Keeper rolls to Striker, who turns john. John doesnt run back with conviction, Striker has plenty of time to pause, and then shoot from acute angle.
6-9 51:45 - Mini's shot is saved, ball rolls downfield to striker, Turns past justin who practically gives up, And slots it past belly.

For the record:

Piggy had 14 attempts, 1 goal, and 1 assist.
Mini had 12 attempts, 2 goals, and 2 assists.
John had 7 attempts, no goals, and 1 assist.
Big Rick had 8 attempts, no goals, no assists.
Justin had 21 attempts, 3 goals, and 1 assist.
Belly had 1 direct assist.

For the record, and this can be interpreted differently when you watch the video, it seems some goals were pure luck, but Piggy was at fault for 2 goals. John for 3, Justin for 2, and Rick for 1. Now, PLEASE bear in mind, that at least a few of those goals, there was NOTHING the person i ticked as "at fault" could have done. And i ticked the "at fault" box for either the man that put the last defender in jeopardy, or for the last defender. There's nothing you can do against a 2 on 1. But quite a few were down to tired legs just not running.

But PLEASE dont pass judgement on this, and watch the video yourself to see what happens.
